   Girlfriend Getaways- August

Our Girlfriend Getaways have three goals in mind. First, is providing comfort and safety by being with a guide. Second, we want you to have fun. Third, we want to teach you to be a better hiker by teaching you to pace, to make good decisions on the trail and to carry the right gear and use it properly. These trips have been one of the most exciting things we've started and we hope to continue with more hiking and snowshoe offerings throughout the year.

Trips must have at least 3 participants signed up 3 days prior to trip. You can make a reservation by e-mail at phebe@warminghouse.com or by calling The Warming House at (970)586-2995 and asking for Phebe Novic or Val Deats.

Cost: $35 per trip
Must Have: Sunscreen, sunglasses, proper over-the-ankle hiking boots, wicking layers for clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, pack, water (minimum of 2 liters), lunch.

Must have valid Rocky Mountain National Park Pass (Can be purchased prior to day of hike)

August 11th- Sky Pond- This is a favorite hike for so many Rocky Mountain Hikers. It is a moderate 9.2 miles round-trip and 1660 feet of elevation gain. The trail begins at the Glacier Gorge trailhead and makes it way up to the Loch, another favorite in the park. Above the Loch, the trail climbs out of the trees to Timberline Falls. There's a spot of rock scrambling to the right. It reaches beautiful Lake of Glass then continues to Sky Pond. This is our second week in the summer where we're offering two hikes within the same week. Fly out and join us for both!

Meeting Time: 7:30 at The Warming House

August 14th- Mt. Lady Washington-This is a winner. Lady Washington sits to the north of Longs Peak and offers dramatic views of the east face of Longs and Chasm Lake. It is 14 miles with 3900 feet of elevation gain. The trail begins at the Longs Peak Ranger Station and follows the Longs Peak trail to the Boulderfield. It then heads due south to Chasm View. We'll then turn east and scramble to the summit of Lady Washington. If you've had enough at Chasm View you can wait at the Boulderfield. This hike is long and does require some rock scrambling. But it's not as hard as Longs Peak and will give you the chance to hone your high altitude skills within the comfort of a guided trip.

Meeting Time: 7:00 at The Longs Peak Ranger Station

**Most of these hikes are above treeline and are subject to the weather. If the weather is bad we will choose another hike more appropriate with the same difficulty.
