   Can I Do This?

Walter Tishma Way in Colorado - Self-Guided- Although hiking on the WTW doesn't require a heavy pack, it is hiking in the backcountry and it is hiking 8-12 miles day after day in elevations between 7500 feet and 9800 feet. There are several days along the route that can be shortened and we offer several options for day 3 from Lily Lake to St. Malo. If you're hiking without a guide, route-finding and basic backcountry skills are required. A route guide is included, but must be used with a topo map. Be sure to get in shape by carrying a pack and wearing your hiking boots on walking routes in your area. One word of warning. Long-distance hiking is addictive.

Women's Week in Switzerland-This is a fantastic week and offers a lot of options for a wide range of ability levels. It is a hiking trip, but there are a couple of excursion days and as always, bailing out of the hike for a day by the pool or shopping is always an option. The hiking is lower than Colorado and most of the mileages are less, but there's more vertical gain. Get into the best shape you can. You'll be amazed at what you can do.

Inn to Inn in Alsace, France- You definitely don't want to do an inn to inn style trip if you've never hiked before. It's not that the hiking is strenuous, in fact it's probably easier than hiking in Switzerland or Colorado. But the mileages are longer and it is hiking day after day. This trip is excellent for people who love good wine, good food, and a lot of history mixed in with moderate hiking through golden vineyards and forested mountains. It's important to keep in mind that if you're not feeling well or really tired, you can go ahead with the luggage to the next destination.

Inn to Inn in Switzerland- This trip blends four days of inn to inn hiking from from the velvety green hills of French-speaking Chateau d'oex to the high alpine splendors of Kandersteg, then two days of day hiking in the Kander Valley. Lounging by the pool or day-touring on your rail pass is also an option during the last two days in Kandersteg. The hiking is overall more challenging so you'll want to be in good shape. If for some reason you cannot hike on any day of the four inn to inn days, you can purchase a bus or rail ticket or use a day on your rail pass to go ahead to the next destination.

Custom Trips- We offer custom trips in Colorado both winter and summer. We can plan your lodging, food and activities which include snowshoeing, hiking or gourmet cooking classes at The Fawn Brook Inn (winter).
